About the River Valley League
River Valley League
What is the River Valley League?
The River Valley League is an association of amateur baseball clubs, organized into
three separate divisions or leagues, organized under the rules of the
Minnesota
Baseball Association.  The teams are either Class B or Class C teams.  The West and
Central Divisions are composed of four and five Class C teams respectively.  The East
Division is composed of five Class B teams.

The River Valley League was formerly known as the Carver Central League, changing
names as both Brownton and Carver opted out of the league for the 2008 season, with
Fairfax and Henderson joining the league.

The West Division consists of Arlington, Fairfax, Gaylord, St. Peter and Winthrop.  The
Central Division consists of Belle Plaine, Henderson, Le Sueur and Waconia.  The
East Division consists of Chaska, Jordan, Prior Lake, Shakopee and Victoria.
How many games do the teams play?
Each team in the River Valley League will play every other team in the league at
least one time during the year.  In the West and Central Divisions, each team will play
their division opponents one additional time.  The East Division, consisting of Class B
teams only, contains five of the six teams in State Section 3B.  The additional team is
Green Isle.  The Class B teams in Section 3B play each other three times in regular
season play.

In addition, each team may schedule games with other teams consistent with the rules
of the Minnesota Baseball Association.
What schedule do the teams play?
The teams play a regular season league schedule, where division standings determine
seeding in divisional double elimination playoffs.  For the Class C teams in the West
and Central Divisions, the division playoff sends two teams to State Regional play as
the next step to winning the State Championship.

The Class B teams are seeded into two pools of three teams each, to allow two teams
from each pool to advance.  The four remaining teams then play a double
elimination playoffs to determine who are the Section 3B representatives to the state
tournament.
